Error description

  • DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS contains ISPF skeleton part,
ADB2UCUS, which was distributed with inaccurate comment lines
referencing skeleton part ADB2USK. APAR PM12150 introduced via
PTF UK59215 a new sample job, ADB2UCU3 , with instructions and
++HOLD data describing how to change the inaccurate comment
lines. Those instructions, while technically correct, failed to
inform customers of the following details:
    .
    1. There are several instances in skeleton ADB2UCUS that need to
be modified, i.e. several comment lines needing modification.
    2. There are several instances in skeleton ADB2UCUS that need to
be modified, that also have slightly different text than is
shown in the sample ADB2UCU3 job.
    .
Instructions from ADB2UCU3 job appear as follows:
    .
    )CM INSTRUCTIONS:
    )CM ------------
)CM MODIFY THE LINE BELOW AND CHANGE THE K TO KD
    )CM BEFORE:
)CM USED IN SKEL ADB2USK TABLESPACE CHECK DATA -UT K
    )CM AFTER:
)CM USED IN SKEL ADB2USK TABLESPACE CHECK DATA -UT KD
    .
For item 1 above, there are at least 5 statements in skeleton
    ADB2UCUS that need this modification.
    .
For item 2, there are at least 4 lines that contain alternate
syntax that need modification. The alternate syntax appears as:
    .
)CM USED IN SKEL ADB2USK TABLESPACE CHECK DATA -UT K(CLONED
            TABLES))
    .
The prior line appears as a single line in the ADB2UCUS skeleton
but is folded into two lines, here, due to column limitations.
    .
These statements with alternate syntax were copied into ADB2UCUS
skeleton from sample job ADB2UCU1 for most customers who applied
the maint that introduced ADB2UCU1. For any NEW customers, who
have not applied the maint that introduced sample job ADB2UCU1
yet, those NEW customers can modify the alternate syntax in
sample job ADB2UCU1 before copying those statements into
ADB2UCUS, or after copying those statements into ADB2UCUS. The
desired end result would be for ADB2UCUS to contain the correct
option UT KD that is noted in the original instructions in apar
    sample job, ADB2UCU3.
    .
For example: Before and after picture of alternate syntax form:
    BEFORE modification:
)CM USED IN SKEL ADB2USK TABLESPACE CHECK DATA -UT K(CLONED
            TABLES)
    .
    AFTER modification:
)CM USED IN SKEL ADB2USK TABLESPACE CHECK DATA -UT KD(CLONED
           TABLES)
    .
As noted above, these )CM comment lines appear as a single line
in the ADB2UCUS skeleton, BUT are folded to 2 lines due to
column limitations in this apar text.

Local fix

  • Follow instructions above, as additional clarification to
performing modifications from sample job ADB2UCU3 from apar
    PM12150 / ptf UK59215 .

Problem conclusion

  • Sample member ADB2UCU5 for DB2 Administration Tool for
    z/OS V7.2 and ADB2UCU1 for DB2 Administration Tool for
z/OS V10.1 were added to enhance the instructions
from the sample job ADB2UCU3 and make additional
