PM21408: TRYING TO LOG INTO COGNOS8 FROM DATA MANAGER RESULTS IN AN INVISIBLE LOGIN SCREEN

Error description

  • Customer description:??The issue occurs only in Data Manager.
    Cognos Transformer and Framework Manager do not have the
    issue.??We're unable to visibly see the Data Manager 'Logon As'
    screen (it's?completely invisible).  If you imagine the screen
    and type user name,?tab, then type the password and then hit the
    enter key carefully you?can get logged in.  ??Then if you do get
    logged in, when you're ready to?exit Data Manager there's
    another invisible screen or dialogue box that?one can't interact
    with and Data Manager can only be closed using
    task?manager.??We've discovered that it's a window positioning
    issue because we can force the screen to appear alt, space?M the
    cursor shoots to the top left corner indicating that window
    is?present but off the screen.  We then did an alt, space N to
    minimize it?to the task bar then maximized the window and make
    it appear.??Additional notes:??The customer is using 8.4, with
    SSL enabled, along with Siteminder (SiteMinder provides
    policy-based authentication as well as single sign-on for all
    Web-based applications. SiteMinder is used in conjunction with
    IdentityMinder, which manages detailed user profiles, and
    TransactionMinder, which provides access to Web services.)??I
    don't think SSL or sitemnder are the cause of the issue (as I
    set up a similar environment here and did not have the
    problem).??The customer has a front end custom screen they built
    and this is what appears to be causing the issue. This front end
    screen is used in all other applications the customer uses, and
    they have no problem.??I know there is no magic solution, but
    what do we need in order to proceed here ?
