Error description
In IBM Rational RequisiteWeb versions 7.1 upto 7.1.1.3: When a document created or modified in RequisitePro Native Client is opened (single-click) for the first time in RequisiteWeb with a user with only read permissions for that document/requirement-type, an error appears stating that the user does not have write permissions to perform the action. This error appears as many times as there are requirements in the document. A possible workaround is to open the document once in the web interface by a user with write access. After this the read-only users can view the document without problems.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In RequisitePro 7.1 a user without write permission over a document cannot open it from Rational RequisitePro client for Web (RequisiteWeb). The document is not displayed and an error is shown stating that the user does not have enough privileges to do so. This happens if the document was created using the Rational RequisitePro client for Windows and it contains requirements with rich text. When RequisiteWeb opens a document for the first time it updates the text of the requirements with rich text in the database. Since the user opening the document does not have write permission for the requirement type, RequisiteWeb throws the not sufficient permissions error.
Problem conclusion
RequisiteWeb was modified to be able to display documents that contain rich text requirements whether the user has permissions to update or not. Requirements are now updated until a user with the proper update permissions opens the documents. Note that the rich text will not be shown in requirement properties until the document is opened in RequisiteWeb by a user with write permissions. When a document with rich text requirements created in RequisitePro client for Windows will be used in RequisiteWeb it is recommended to open the document in RequisiteWeb first by a user with write permissions so the database is updated with the rich text information.
