• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS, when doing a comparison
  with LONG VARCHAR (DB2 v8 and lower) and VARCHAR(32310) (DB2 v9)
  the tool finds a difference.
  When source DDL columns total is greater than 32759,
  message: IBM0342S ONCODE=340  The SIZE condition was raised.
           From entry point PROCESS_LVC at statement 10867 at
           compile unit offset at address 34813DB4.

  *                      VARCHAR. This change is                 *
  *                      implemented by a DROP/CREATE.           *

  All changes to a target table that is compared to a
  source table with LONG VARCHAR or LONG
  VARGRAPHIC columns are implemented with a
  DROP/CREATE.
  

Problem conclusion

• The ONCODE has been corrected. The comparison
  between LONG VARCHAR and VARCHAR column
  types is now considered a match. The same with
  LONG VARGRAPHIC and VARG. If a set of changes
  can be accomplished with an ALTER, an ALTER
  will be used. If a change results in a DROP/CREATE,
  such as the addition of a column or the increase of
  the size of a column, a DROP/CREATE will still
  occur.
