  • In DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS, when a resultset for
    tables being queried is huge ( > 1000 )
then GRANT is issued from the command line,
grant table(s) is less than resultset
and less than Max Chars in an SQL Stmt found by issuing
    PARMS command.

During the processing of the primary command GRANT,
a 32k buffer is used to construct an SQL GRANT
statement. For a large number of objects and with
PROMPT ON the user is presented with multiple batches
of GRANT statements. This is confusing for the user.

Problem conclusion

  • The DB2 Administration Tool primary command GRANT
has been changed to use a 2 megabyte buffer. If the
GRANT statement is larger than 2 megabytes, then it
will be split into multiple GRANT statements. When
multiple GRANT statements are used with PROMPT ON,
the CANCEL command will cancel the current block
and all subsequent blocks of GRANT statements.
