Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS * * Version 4 Release 2 users ( FMID=H1J0420 ) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR provides: * * - Functionality to HASH pointer check * * without creating image copies. * * With this function, user can perform * * HASH pointer check for online * * database. * * - zIIP processor support * * * * This APAR also includes fixes for some * * problems. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** This APAR includes following enhancements: 1. Functionality to HASH pointer check without creating image copies. For ICOUT= and STACK= keywords, a new parameter %NO is added in order not to create the image copy data set and not to register IC record in the DBRC RECON. This enhancement is intended for user to do HASH pointer check for online full function databases. It addresses FITS MR00040057, MR0129093327, and MR061109402. +-----------------------------------------------------+ | Pointer Checking for online full function database | +-----------------------------------------------------+ To perform pointer checking completely for full function database, it is required to capture static database image. In other words, online database should be stopped during pointer checking. Although this restriction inhibits the continuous database operation, it is unavoidable. To decrease this problem, take advantage of HPIC functions which are HPIC HASH Check with TOIAUTO (or TOIAUTO_Q) and FASTIC. By using these functions, HASH pointer check can be done for the online database with automatic start-stop operations and with short period of the database unavailable time. This run mode is called as a pseudo online pointer check mode. Here is a process flow of the HPIC pseudo online pointer check mode: 1. stop(/DBD or /DBR) or quiesce the database 2. create shadow data set by FlashCopy in short time 3. restart the database 4. perform HASH pointer check to the shadow data set 5. delete the shadow data set To do this, user need to specify following ICEIN keywords: - HDPC=Y to HASH pointer check - TOIAUTO_Q=Y or TOIAUTO=Y to suspend/stop and resume/restart databases while HASH pointer checking - FASTIC=(,FDUMP) or FASTIC=(,COPY) for shorter unavailable time of the databases. - ICOUT=%NO or STACK=%NO to suppress creating image copies The step 5 "delete the flash copy" is an optional. You can keep the data set as image copy, if you do not specify ICOUT=%NO or STACK=%NO. 2. zIIP processor support This enhancement is for FITS MR040309532 and MR1202075943. The new keyword ZIIPMODE= is added to offload CPU workload of HP Image Copy jobs to zIIP processors. For more detail, please refer HP Image Copy V4R2 DCF that will available later. When the DCF becomes available, this APAR information will be update so as to point the DCF document. This APAR also includes fixes for following problems: - HP Image Copy does not report the "Image Copy Dump Process report" that is generated in ICERPRT DD and "Data Set Statistics report" that is generated in FABJSTAT DD for index DB when all of the following conditions are satisfied: - Processing database is index DB. - FASTIC=(,COPY) or FASTIC=(,DUMP) or FASTIC=(,FDUMP) is specified. - Either VIC=Y and HDPC=N are specified or VIC=(Y,OFFPC) is specified. - HP Image Copy terminates with RC=08 and message FABJ0215E ( MSGFABJ0215E ), and also NOTIFY.UIC command is not issued to the index DB when all of the following conditions are satisfied: - Processing database is index DB. - FASTIC=(,FDUMP) is specified. - NOTIFYMODE=COND is specified. - Either VIC=Y and HDPC=N are specified or VIC=(Y,OFFPC) is specified. - HP Image Copy terminates with ABEND U3835 ( ABENDU3835 ) and message FABJ3835E ( MSGFABJ3835E ) for NOTIFY.IC command to the DL/I DB and HALDB when all of the following conditions are satisfied: - Processing database is DL/I DB or HALDB. - HP Image Copy is running in IMS V10 or higher. - The value of MINVERS in RECON data set is '9.1' or lower. - FASTIC=(,COPY) or FASTIC=(,DUMP) is specified. - NOTIFYMODE=COND is specified. - DBALL=(Y,Y) is specified. - HP Image Copy terminates without issuing a required NOTIFY.IC command to the secondary index DB or terminates with ABEND U3835 ( ABENDU3835 ) and message FABJ3835E ( MSGFABJ3835E ) for NOTIFY.IC command to the secondary index DB when all of the following conditions are satisfied: - Processing database are secondary index and secondary index overflow. - NOTIFYMODE=COND is specified. - HDPC=O is specified to either secondary index or secondary index overflow. - HP Image Copy Restart process issues the incorrect message FABJ4260I ( MSGFABJ4260I ) for database which has been successfully completed by checkpoint process. And if the database is DEDB, HP Image Copy may terminate with ABEND S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 ). - HP Image Copy is running in the restart mode. - RESTART=Y is specified and Checkpoint/Restart function is enabled. - FASTIC=(,COPY) or FASTIC=(,DUMP) is specified. - HP Image Copy issues the incorrect text of message FABJ9007I ( MSGFABJ9007I ). - The default value of SHDWTCTL= keyword is incorrect. Although SHDWTCTL=20 described by the User's guide is correct, SHDWTCTL=64 is applied as an incorrect default value.
