Error description

  • IMS/PA V4R2M0 went into a loop. A Strobe showed that 97% of the
CPU was in module IPI4QMGR.  Loop hits instructions at x'39a'
and x'3a2'.

Output messages are attached to the parent transaction
at ENQ time. When an output message is cancelled there
is no ENQ and the Response becomes an "orphan". When
sufficient messages are orphaned then IMS PA storage
manager (IPI4QMGR) can not acquire more storage and
can not release the storage for the orphaned
transactions, hence it loops.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Delete Response entries when output messages are
cancelled.
