Error description

  • RUNSTATS TABLESPACE INDEX(ALL) 00E20005 DSNUGSTA -> DSNSVSVB
    trying to free a USBL storage. The block trailer is overlaid
    with HIGH/LOW and HIGH2/LOW2 index keys.

    The index is created with "key expression" which is new in V9.
    CREATE UNIQUE INDEX IX1 ON TB1 (COL1 CONCAT SUBSTR(COL2,3,4));

    OBD of this kind of index has special attributes for key length
    and RUNSTATS doesn't handle them properly.

    The problem is an index on expression that's a not padded index.
    RUNSTATS doesn't collect these stats properly. The workaround
    could be:
    1) Alter the index to padded.
    2) Avoid collecting stats for the index on expression
    LISTDEF IXLIST
          INCLUDE INDEXSPACE DBB.*
          EXCLUDE INDEXSPACE DBB.IOE
    RUNSTATS INDEX LIST IXLIST

Local fix

  • As this abend happens in the util-term phase, do not -TERM UTIL,
    just re-run the job. It will automatically switch to RESTART
    and make everything clean.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An ABEND04E with RC00E20005 from        *
    *                      DSNSVSVB+08F2 was encountered           *

    *                      statistics on a not padded              *
    *                      index on expression.                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available. *
    ****************************************************************
    A RUNSTATS TABLESPACE INDEX(ALL) was specified for
    a tablespace with multiple indexes. The length for
    a not padded varying length index on expression was
    not set, causing the length of the previously
    processed index to be used. This resulted in an
    overlay and the abend.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been changed to always set the length for a
    not padded index on expression.
