Error description

  • IBM Rational ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) will error with perm
ission denied when defining a set of groups within CCRC while th
e user is a member or more than 32 groups

This issue occurs when using ClearCase Change Management (CM) Se
rver 7.1.1.1 on Microsoft Windows or Unix.

Note: The user account must be in greater than 32 groups to ex
    hibit the defect.

    To reproduce:

    1) Create a user account named ?ccuser? and add the user to mor
    e than 33 groups.

    2) Create a VOB as vobadm, with the Primary Group of the VOB be
ing one of the secondary groups of user ccuser.

    3) Add two or three additional groups to the newly created VOB
from the additional group list for ccuser.

    4) Protect several of the subdirectories within the VOB with th
e additional groups added to the VOB, and reprotect (chmod) the
directories as 770. Note: vobadm still owns the directories.

    5) On the CCRC client or plugin, go to the following after star
    ting the client:

       Window -? Preferences -? Team -? ClearCase Remote Client -? G
    roups

Now, specify the same additional groups that were used in
step 4) above under the ?Additional ClearCase Groups? setting,
and then define the ?ClearCase Primary Group? as the Primary Gro
    up of the VOB.

    6) Make a new view and try to load one of the directories that
were protected in step 4) above.

Permission Denied is seen within the CCRC client and the di
    rectory will not load

Workaround: Reduce the number of groups to which the user is a
    member to 32 or less.
