PM13839: IMS ABENDU0757 DFSQRL00 AFTER CANCELING A QCF BATCH UNLOAD JOB

APAR status

Error description

• IMS abends with U0757 in DFSQRL00 after a QCF batch UNLOAD job
  is canceled with ABENDS222.  The abend occurs because IMS code
  compares the destination name in the field pointed to by the
  QTPDST with the destination name in the message.  In this case,
  the QTPDST field in the QTPPCB passed to IMS is 00000000
  ( zeroes ).  The cancel occurs when we are trying to recover
  queue activity, which includes the recover of inserted messages.
  In this case there are no loaded / inserted messages to recover,
  so QCF ends up passing zeros in the PSTIQPCB to IMS.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: IMS abends with U0757 - 2E in DFSQRL00  *
  *                      after canceling a QCF batch unload job. *
  *                      Same abend may happen if the batch job  *
  *                      is for query, browse or unload. On      *
  *                      cancel,a RCOV AWE is sent to clean up   *
  *                      the resources. The work for the AWE     *
  *                      includes an IMS DFSQMGR FUNC=QMRELDLI   *
  *                      call to release the last destination,   *
  *                      but the RCOV AWE does not have any PCB  *
  *                      set up with the last destination in     *
  *                      use.                                    *

  * RECOMMENDATION: The problem is fixed, but it is not reco-    *
  *                 mended to cancel load or unload batch jobs.  *
  *                 The job reports are not valid and some       *
  *                 messages might be lost ( deleted, but not    *
  *                 written to unload file) or duplicated        *
  *                 (because the load report                     *
  *                 is not accurate and some messages are loaded *
  *                 but not documented in the report).           *

  The program that works for RCOV AWEs is changed to check the
  jobname and skip the DFSQMGR FUNC=QMRELDLI call if it is
  'QCFEXTN '.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem with IMS abend has been fixed.
