Error description

  • INZU238E UNEXPECTED UNSUPPORTED SELECT
INZU366I UTILITY RETURN CODE 8 (REASON CODE 0x106a00d)
Error message INZU238E UNEXPECTED UNSUPPORTED SELECT is issued
for a SELECT statement that contains the DIGITS scalar function
applied on a constant, and included in either:
    - a CASE expression
    - an IFNULL scalar function
    - a COLAESCE scalar function
    For example: SELECT COALESCE( DIGITS(COLDEC50) , DIGITS(0) )
    PB10645

Local fix

  • Adding in the VUU030/ULOPTNS parmlib variable the non-documented
value FIX(OPTCST) which will de-activate an optimization made on
constants. BUT this de-activation can have a very negative
impact if using IN predicate with a large number of constant
values. The creation of hash code is deactivated and the
performance impact can be huge in such cases.

The inznode module was changed to handle expression with
    DIGIT(constant) correctly.

Problem conclusion

  • APPLY the PTF.
