Error description
When sending a message sending WS-Addressing to a JAX-RPC Web Service provider, the HTTP response may encounter an IOException when redirection is set on the server for the response, leading to the following errors: SRVE0068E: Uncaught exception thrown in one of the service methods of the servlet: FaultServiceSEI. Exception thrown : java.io.IOException: Async IO operation failed, reason: RC: 107 Transport endpoint is not connected at com.ibm.io.async.AbstractAsyncChannel. multiIO(AbstractAsyncChannel.java:474) at com.ibm.io.async.AsyncSocketChannelHelper. read(AsyncSocketChannelHelper.java:217) at com.ibm.ws.tcp.channel.impl.AioSocketIOChannel. readAIOSync(AioSocketIOChannel.java:205) at com.ibm.ws.tcp.channel.impl.AioTCPReadRequestContextImpl. processSyncReadRequest(AioTCPReadRequestContextImpl.java:150) at com.ibm.ws.tcp.channel.impl.TCPReadRequestContextImpl. read(TCPReadRequestContextImpl.java:109) ... at com.ibm.ws.webservices.engine.transport.http. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V6.1 JAX-RPC provider applications * * employing WS-Addressing * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An IOException error may occur when * * a Web Service provider sends a * * response with redirection set on the * * server * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fixpack that includes this APAR * **************************************************************** When the JAX-RPC runtime processes two-way synchronous Web service calls that use WS-Addressing, and redirection is set on the server side, the HTTP connection may be reset prematurely. When this occurs, an IOException may occur due to attempting to access an already closed HTTP connection. As a result, the following error message may be seen: IOException, closing the reads: java.io.IOException: Async IO operation failed, reason: RC: 107 Transport endpoint is not connected ...
Problem conclusion
The JAX-RPC runtime was corrected to prevent the premature resetting of an HTTP connection for synchronous Web service calls. This was fixed in V7.0.0.1. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 6.1.0.33.
