Error description

  • The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS issues a message:
ADB5043E *** Restart processing was halted due to a command
      mismatch. ***
when attempting to restart a WSL after using the SKIP NEXT
feature on panel ADB2Z2B1 'Display Batch Job Checkpoint Table
    Row'.
The original WSL had failed with a SQLCODEN204 / SQLCODE -204
    error.

Local fix

  • Use the WSL RESTART(FORCE) option:
As with RESTART(YES), RESTART(FORCE) restarts at the last commit
point prior to a failure. You must also provide the WORKLIST()
parameter. However, the basic check done in RESTART(YES) is not
done in RESTART(FORCE). Because the basic check is not done, the
restart point might be unintended and the results might be
    unpredictable.
If the COMMAND_RESTART column in the ADBCHKPT table has a value
of 'S' upon the restart processing, the check for the checkpoint
record is not performed. And, if the checkpoint dialog Skip-Next
line command is used, the check is not performed.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
When a prior run has failed and the skip-next line
command is used to influence the restart point,
message ADB5043E was being issued incorrectly.
When skip-next is used, the limited validation for
command matching should also be skipped.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem has been fixed. ADBTEP2 will not
perform command match validation during restart
processing if the checkpoint record has been
modified by the checkpoint record dialog, either
with the skip-next line command or the update
    line command.
