Error description

  • The data that is provided by the ActiveCount PMI thread pool
    counter is not accurate due to the inclusion of Async I/O
    threads in the count.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The "activeCount" value displayed in    *
    *                      PMI for a thread pool includes any      *
    *                      long-running Asynchronous I/O (AIO)     *
    *                      threads, which are always active.       *
    *                      Because of this, the displayed number   *
    *                      of active threads may not reach zero    *
    *                      even when there is no apparent          *
    *                      activity on the server.                 *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

    APAR PM08511 is being closed FIN with concurrence from the
    submitting customer. This means that a fix to this APAR is
    expected to be delivered from IBM in a release which is being
    developed at the time that the APAR was closed. The latest
    release of the product to exit development at the time this
    APAR was closed was:
    WebSphere Application Server 7.0
