Error description

  • ABEND40D occurs on an ADF transaction after migrating to PL/I
Enterprise Edition. The abend occurs because ESPIE is issued,
but never cancelled. Eventually the stack overflows with non
cancelled ESPIE areas.

*                 of transaction in a single batch.            *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When control is passed from the exit    *
*                      to the transacion driver,the user's     *
*                      PIE is replaced with a dummy one -      *
*                      reseting the dummy on return.           *
*                      For PLE- the reset has been removed     *
*                      long time ago, because of S46D          *
*                      abends, the set ESPIE stayed- causing   *
*                      storage shortage for PIE areas          *
*                      and the batch abends with S40D.         *
*                      The ESPIE has been removed for PLE      *
*                      exits.                                  *

The ESPIE has been removed for PLE exits.

Problem conclusion

  • Install the PTF and relink PLE exits.
