APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • FPA ANALYZE specifies an unreasonable statement in the sort
control card that is used when REPORT subcommand is
specified. Thus DFSORT uses a larger sort work data set than
    what is necessary.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: FPA ANALYZE specifies an unreasonable *
    * value for LENGTH keyword parameter of *
    * the DFSORT control card that is used *
    * when REPORT subcommand is specified. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
FPA ANALYZE generates the sort control card that is used when
REPORT subcommand. FPA ANALYZE always sets "094" for the LENGTH
keyword parameter of DFSORT. The value is valid when max segment
level of the database is 15. But when max segment level of the
database is less than 15, FPA ANALYZE must set the valid value
of LENGTH. Because the value specified in LENGTH affect sort
work data set used by DFSORT.

Problem conclusion

  • FPA ANALYZE is modified to specify the valid value LENGTH
keyword parameter of DFSORT control card.

The following change is made to these topics:
2.4.4 DD statements for Reload process
2.5.4 DD statements for Change process
2.6.4 DD statements for Reorg process
2.7.4 DD statements for Analyze process

The description of itttWKnn DD when REPORT subcommand is
    specified is changed as follows:
REPORT subcommand and PTRCHKLVL=FULL are specified
X x (number of non-SDEP segments in the areas + number of
free space element in the areas + number of references to
        other CIs)
          if LARGEREC_REPORT=NO is specified
          X: (34 + (MAX Segment Level x 4)) or 48, whichever is
          greater
          if LARGEREC_REPORT=YES is specified
          X: (34 + (MAX Segment Level x 4) + root key length) or 48,
