Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of QCF3.1 panels that allocate * * data sets, used to pass information * * between client and server, on SMS volumes. * * The prefix of the names for these data * * sets is defined by the customer in * * parameter USRHLQ in start up script IQC31. * * The data sets can be allocated on a * * specified volume , or SMS vols can be used. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In utilizing the QCF ISPF panels a * * "DATA SET ALLOCATION FAILED" error * * message is received retrieving the * * UNLOAD data set and only when it is SMS * * managed. * * Also the following error message shows * * in the QCF server job: * * IQC7009E DYN ALLOC FAILED FOR UNLOD@02, * * RC=00000004 RSN=00000210 * * The problem is that the data sets are * * passed between client and server - both * * components allocating and un-allocating * * the data sets. * * UNLOAD data set is the last to be un- * * allocated by client and the first * * to be allocated by server - in some * * cases the timing is not correct-and the * * data set is not released when the * * server requests it. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The programs have been changed to do the un-allocate and allocate of the data sets in the same order - there is enough time for the operating system to finish the release of the data sets before they are requested by the other QCF component.
Problem conclusion
Install the fix if SMS volumes are in use.
