PM04556: MISSING DRF MESSAGE TO EXPLAIN FINAL RC 08 AND RSN 03 FOR HPIC

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• client received RC=8 RSN=3 from FABJAPI FUNC(TERM) MASTER(YES).
  Return code and reason code not defined in FABJAPI. So no DRF
  message explaining the reason. Request to change FABJAPI and
  provide DRF message.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In the REPORT SYSOUT, in the Utility    *
  *                      Report portion, in the section showing  *
  *                      Final Return (RC) and Reason (RSN)      *
  *                      under the --IC-- header, values of 08   *
  *                      and 03 are listed. However, there is    *
  *                      no DRF or HPIC message explaining the   *
  *                      RC and RSN results from HPIC. The same  *
  *                      problem for RC=04 and RSN=00 is         *
  *                      addressed by this APAR.                 *

  * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF      *
  ****************************************************************
  DRF has received the final RC=08 and RSN=03 from HPIC because
  the IC data set has been created, but it could not be registered
  to DBRC in the RECON. DRF has received the final RC=04 and
  RSN=00 from HPIC because primary and secondary ICs have been
  requested, but on or the other was not created successfully.
  In either situation, neither DRF nor HPIC has provided messages
  indicating the source of the problem.

  add messages corresponding to RC=08 RSN=03 and RC=04 RSN=00. The

  FRD9011E HPIC ERROR ON DBRC NOTIFY.IC:  SEE FABJ MSG.
  FRD9010I HPIC ERROR ON PRIMARY OR SECONDARY IC:  SEE FABJ MSG
  AND ICEPRINT DD.
  Please see the HPIC APARs for the new messages corresponding to
  these return codes.
