PM03650: ABEND U0384-00000009 IN FRXPDSS0

Error description

• abend U0384-00000009 in FRXPDSS0 caused by:
  the initial abends in the DRF master address space
  (CM$0G4AB) and the sort address space IC609610.  Both of these
  address spaces attempted to issue a message but the WTO macro
  returned an error due to a console message buffer shortage.
  These address spaces then abended which resulted in the
  remaining sort address spaces abending when they detected that
  the DRF master job was no longer active.
  Additional Symptoms
  DRF sometimes fails to clean up the RECONS at shut down due to
  a timing problem. This can result in messages

    DSP0175I  DBDNAME=DRM85Y47
    DSP0175I  SSIDNAME=CDMSJ51W

  When DRF attempts to write a message to the log using Write
  To Operator (WTO) and it is unsuccessful, abend U0384-00000009
  is issued and recovery is terminated.
  

Problem conclusion

  DRF is changed so that it does not abend when WTO fails,
  but instead it continues with recovery and writes the
  message to the SYSPRINT dataset. In addition a DBRC
  SIGN OFF timing issue from a control block change
  is corrected.
