Error description

• ABEND S878 WHEN RUNNING VERIFY AGAINST A LARGE NUMBER OF
  DATABASES.
  Code in FRXVVER0 does an unallocate of the database, and the
  routine which does the unallocate frees the storage for the
  LDSD, subsequently a field in the LDSD is updated which leads to
  an S0C4 abend that causes the S878 abend.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An S0C4 is encountered when the LDSD is *

  *                      the LDSD will cause the S0C4            *
  *                      subsequently.  The LDSD update was      *
  *                      removed, since the LDSD is freed        *
  *                      anyways.                                *

  * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF      *

  In certain cases, when running large amount of DBs with
  VERIFY(OPEN) or VERIFY(ALLOC) an S0C4 is encountered. This is
  due to the deallocation routine freeing storage, which is
  updated afterwards.
  

Problem conclusion

• This problem was caused by new code avoiding a S878 abend. The
  code implemented the de-allocation of the db. The de-allocation
  also, in certain cases frees the DBRC block LDSD, and this
  causes te S0C4.
