Error description

  • java/lang/OutOfMemoryError is thrown

Problem summary

  • When an application enters JNI and doesn't leave for some time
and calls NewStringPlatform (or other related functions that use
character conversion) repeatedly, both the Java Heap
and Java Stack fill up with char arrays, byte arrays,
BufferOverflowException, CharToByteConverter etc objects (and
in their references, in the case of the Java Stack).

Problem conclusion

  • NewStringPlatform and related functions have been altered to
ensure all memory and JNI local refs are freed/deleted once
they are finished with.

This defect will be fixed in:
SDK5 SR 11

To obtain the fix:
Install build 20090725 or later
