Error description
WebSphere Portal renders pages incorrectly and the browser does not display the page if duplicate per user portlet preferences exist. SystemOut.log contains: Control E com.ibm.wps.composition.elements.Control getScopedPortletEntity EJPEF0025E: The portlet entity for ID [ObjectIDImpl '...', PORTLET_ENTITY, VP: ..., [Domain: rel], DB: ...] could not be loaded from the database.
Local fix
Problem summary
Duplicate per user portlet preferences generated in certain conditions. This may lead to users seeing wrongly rendered pages.
Problem conclusion
Added check to properly handle a database exception. Note that this fix requires a manual cleanup: Cleanup: 1) If your system already shows duplicate portlet instances, you would need to manually delete them with xmlaccess by exporting the page and removing setting the duplicate entries from action="update" to action="delete" and re-import the modified script. 2) Please go to the manage portlets portlet and pick the portlet (definition) for the portletinstance that you removed in1) and verify and/or remove the unwanted preferences. Note that some portlets store the data in binary format such that you may not be able to identify single individual preferences.
