APAR status

Error description

  • User runs a COPY Uutility with a LISTDEF.
There are only 5 valid partitions but the LISTDEF contains
50 Partlevel include statements. The job abends with 0c4 after a
few DSNU524I messages.

Local fix

  • correct the partlevel specification

  User attempted to run COPY utility on a single partition of
a partitioned object using DSNUM.  However, the partition
specified was much higher than the total number of partitions
in the object.  Instead of a suitable error message the job
abended with ABENDS0C4 in DSNUBAII.
  A similar abend could be seen in DSNUBACI if CONCURRENT
COPY were used.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was changed so that validity checks on the partition
number for COPY utility would be done before any references
to them are made.
