PM00276: ABENDB37 SB37 ON UNLOAD FROM CATALOG TABLE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Unload from catalog table without the SPACE parm in TEMPLATE
  causes DB2 to allocate a very small primary & secondary
  allocation for the output resulting in a B37 abend.
  

Local fix

• use SPACE parm on TEMPLATE card to allocate larger
  parimary space for unload output file
  

Problem summary

  UNLOAD was run on a DB2 catalog table space specifying TEMPLATE
  without the SPACE parameter for the output SYSREC data set.  Due
  to the maximum rows per page for this table space being zero
  (0), the space for the output SYSREC was calculated to only need
  1 cylinder for both the primary and secondary space values.
  Because the table space being unloaded had a large number of
  rows, the allocated space was used up and the ABENDSB37
  resulted.  The UNLOAD utility then ended with RC8.
  
  
  This can also occur when UNLOADing non-catalog tablespaces and
  the maximum rows per page is zero (0).
  

Problem conclusion

• UNLOAD has been changed to use the following default value for
  the maximum rows per page if that value is found to be zero
  (0):
  
  If the table space is one of the following DB2 catalog table
  spaces: SYSDBASE, SYSDBAUT, SYSGROUP, SYSPLAN, SYSVIEWS, or the
  DB2 catalog directory table space, DBD01, the default value is
  127.
  
  For all other table spaces, the default value is 255.
