  • This APAR will address the following problems:
    - MESSAGE BPL622E OCCURS WHEN MORE THAN 16,384
      VSAM COMPONENT DATA SET NAMES OR OSAM DATABASE DATA
      SET NAMES ARE USED IN AN IMS SYSTEM.
    - SPACE ABENDS CAN OCCUR ON THE SYSLIB DD (PARMLIB
      DATA SET) WHEN RUNNING REPEATED TRACES -
      ABENDB37 ABENDD37 ABENDE37 ABENDX37.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS Buffer Pool Analyzer V1.3 users.     *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message BPL622E occurs when more than   *
    *                      16,384 VSAM Component Data Set Names or *
    *                      OSAM Database Data Set Names are used   *
    *                      in an IMS system.                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    This APAR is correcting the following problems:
    1.Message BPL622E occurs when more than 16,384
    VSAM component data set names or OSAM database
    data set names are used in an IMS system.
    2.Space abends can occur on the Syslib DD (PARMLIB
    DATA SET) when running repeated traces -
    ABENDB37 ABENDD37 ABENDE37 ABENDX37.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The following changes have been made for the above problems:
    1.Enhance BPA to increase the number of data set
    names BPA can process from 16,384 to 65,536.
    2.Enhance BPA to update the Syslib DD in place,
    and automatically compress the data set
    when not updating in place.
