Error description

  • Cause The problem is demonstrated by the following part of the
    error
message: Invalid object name 'cognos.crdConnectedUsersSub' The
    report
is looking for a table 'cognos.crdConnectedUsersSub' when in
    fact the
table's name is 'dbo.crdConnectedUsersSub' There is a code
    production
problem (reference number 613662) in Controller 8.4 (also in

Controller 8.3.x), where (for a *very small* number of

reports/options), it (incorrectly) looks for 'cognos.xxxx'
    instead of
    'dbo.xxxxx'.

Local fix

  • Workaround

    Steps:

    1. Locate the Controller application repository database

    2. Expand the section ?Security?

    3. Notice how there is a user called ?cognos?, but there is NOT
    a
    ?schema? called ?cognos?:

    4. Right-click on ?Schemas? and choose ?New Schema?

    5. Fill in both the ?Schema name? and ?Schema owner? sections
    with
?cognos? (or the name of your SQL login), and then click OK:

    6. Right-click on the database, and choose ?New Query?

    7. Enter the following query into the dialogue box:
    sp_MSforeachtable
    @command1="sp_changeobjectowner '?',cognos" TIP: Replace
    ?cognos? with
the name of your SQL login

    8. Click ?execute? and you should receive multiple responses of

?Caution: Changing any part of an object name could break
    scripts and
    stored procedures?:

    9. It is *vital* that you now go back to your database and press

    ?refresh?:

    10. After doing this, you will see that the table/schema owner
    has now
    changed to ?cognos?:

    11. Finally, we need to open the section ?Servername ? Security
    ?
    Logins?

    12. Double-click on your SQL login (for example ?cognos?)

    13. Choose the page ?User Mapping?

    14. Select the database

    15. Notice how the user ?Cognos? is mapped to the user
    ?cognos?, but to
    the default schema ?dbo?:

    16. Click the ?browse? button to change the ?default schema? to

    ?cognos?:

    17. Click OK.

    Test.
