PK97514: WRONG DEFAULT SELECTION WITH HOSTNAME-BASED VIRTUAL PORTAL

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a virtual portal is defined with a distinguishing host
  name, invalid or friendly URLs will result in a default
  selection to the base portal.
  

Local fix

• The following workaround is possible, if URL mappings are not
  needed (since the virtual portal is distinguished by host name,
  URL mappings are not required for virtual portals in this case).
  
  In the WebSphere Application Server Integrated Solutions
  Console, locate the resource environment provider called "WP
  ConfigService". In it the following custom property needs to be
  defined:
  
  wps.mappingurl.enabled = false
  
  After saving the profile and restarting the application server,
  the default selection should work as designed
  

Problem summary

• When a virtual portal is defined with a distinguishing host name
  (but not a URL mapping), invalid or friendly URLs will result in
  a default selection to the base portal. This happens because the
  URL Analyzer does ignore virtual portals distinguished by host
  names when the URL has elements that look like URL mappings.
  

Problem conclusion

• Fixed the URL Analyzer to honor virtual portals already
  identified.
