PK95742: PITR PRODUCES MESSAGE FRD6137E AND YET RECOVERY COMPLETES RC=0

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• FRD6137E ERROR PROCESSING PSBLIB.  RSN=UNABLE TO OBTAIN PSB
  nnnnnnnn when doing a PITR and yet COND CODE 0000.
  Cause of this error message is:
  DRF tries to produce an open UOW report.  In order to do this,
  it needs access to the PSBLIB. If the JCL does not have the
  PSBLIB DD specified in the DRF master address space JCL then
  this message will be procduced or if any number of other reasons
  as listed in the User's Guide. The message shows as an 'E'
  (error) message and should be shown as an 'I' (informational)
  message. This APAR is to correct the message shown to match the
  message documented in the User's Guide.
  

Local fix

• Correct the difficulty of accessing the PSBLIB to remove the
  message and improve performance.
  

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: All Users of DRF running recoveries for Fast *
  *                 Path databases/Areas.                        *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This Apar corrects an Error message     *
  *                      produced during recovery. The Error     *
  *                      message is produced but RC=0 is         *
  *                      returned. The message has been changed  *
  *                      to a Warning message to indicate that a *
  *                      potential problem was found ( PSBLIB dd *
  *                      not allocated ), but it does not affect *
  *                      the results of the recovery, therefore  *
  *                      RC=0 is returned. When a PSBLIB dd      *
  *                      statement is not found in the JCL, the  *
  *                      details of the OPEN UOR cannot be       *
  *                      printed, and the report is bypassed for *
  *                      the specific PSB. During Testing it was *
  *                      also found that for FP recoveries, the  *
  *                      OPEN UOW report is printed for all      *
  *                      recoveries. This has been fixed to only *
  *                      apply to FP PITR recoveries.            *

  * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF      *
  ****************************************************************
  Misleading Error message FRD6137E has been changed to a warning
  message, and the FP recovery has been fixed to only print the
  OPEN UOR report for PITR recoveries.
