PK95694: WHEN SELECTING A CONTENT ITEM AND PRESSING "MORE ACTIONS" THE MENU OPENS TO THE LEFT WHEN LANGUAGE SELECTED IS HEBREW.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When pressing the more actions button the menu opens to the
    left and not immediate below.

When pressing again the menu appears ok but the tree navigator
jumps to right. To clarify, when recreating the problem with the
menu, if the user then clicks on a blank area of the screen
    (say,
expecting the menu to disappear), the content tree "jumps out
of the screen to the right".

When you press anywhere in the browser to make the menu
    disappear the
content tree remains out of the frame.

The problem occurs only in Hebrew. It does NOT occur in English.
The problem occurs only in 1024x768 screen resolution.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Problem Summary:
In the authoring UI, the 'More Actions' drop-down menu opens to
the left of button click in ie6 for hebrew locale in a
    reduced-size browser window

    Detailed Problem Description:
When a user selects a content item in the authoring UI portlet
and clicks on the "More Actions" button,
the subsquent drop-down menu opens to the left. Clicking away
from the drop-down menu to hide it
results in the browser tree shifting to the right. This problem
is accentuated as the browser window gets
    smaller and smaller.

Problem conclusion

  • Problem Analysis:
The javascript tag.offsetLeft behavior is not consistent for
    ie6.

    Problem Solution:
The tag.getBoundingClientRect is used in place of tag.offsetLeft
in the js. In addition the mechanism to hide the drop-down
    window is
modified to prevent the problem of the browser window shifting
    to the right.
