  From IBM WebSphere Application Server Version 6.0.2, request
  headers starting with $WS and _WS are visible to an
  application that received requests via the IBM HTTP Server Web
  Server and the IBM WebSphere Plugin. However some applications
  do not handle request headers beginning with special
  characters such as "$" or "_".
  

Problem conclusion

• The WebContainer code was modified to suppress the headers
  based on the setting of the following custom property:
  name: com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.suppressheadersinrequest
  value: delimited list of header prefixes to be suppressed. For
  example, value:$WS,_WS
  default: not set
  
  PK80362 has already fixed this problem for IBM WebSphere
  Application Server Version 6.1 and 7.0.
