APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Running the web services GLUE programs can result in failures
    occurring when the GLUE appears to run properly. The GLUE can
    return with a return code 0 and CICS then reacts as though the
    return code was 4, resulting in incorrect responses to a client.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A Webservices GLUE is executed and *
    *                      returns with a return code 0. CICS      *
    * then acts as though the return code *
    *                      was 4 and issues a SOAP fault.          *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A Webservices GLUE is executed and returns with a return code
    of 0. CICS responds as though the return code was 4. This
    problem occurs when multiple GLUE calls are executed as part
    of one task.
    Code in DFHPIIS to initialize the return code is only run
    once per task. There was no code in DFHPIIS to reset the return
    code to zero for a clean GLUE execution. Once a GLUE fails
    and sets a return code 4, all subsequent GLUE invocations in
    the same task will be handled as though the return code was
    4 even if it was actually 0.

Problem conclusion

  • DFHPIIS has been changed so that when the return code received
    from a GLUE is 0, it correctly sets its own internal response
    and reason variables to 0.
