    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Online Pointer Checker (OPC) supports *
    *                      multiple areas processing within a      *
    *                      single job step.                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    This APAR addresses the following enhancements:
    1. Support OPC to process multiple areas serially within a
    single job step.
    2. Support OPC, ODE and ODM to process the remaining areas even
    though an error is encounted during processing.
    3. Support OPC to generate image copy using IMS High Performance
    Image Copy.
    4. Support OPC, ODE, ODM and OER to generate a new Process
    Summary Report that summarizes the processing result of each
    area.

    This issue is implemented as a result of FITS requirement
    MR0604084757.

Comments

  • 1. This APAR allows OPC to specify multiple specific areas using
    AREA=(area1,area2,...) or all areas that are defined in DBD
    using AREA=ALL. If multiple areas are specifyed with AREA
    keyword of ANALYZE control statement in FPXIN DD, OPC process
    them serially.

    2. A new keyword PROC_AFT_ERROR is added for the following
    control statement. If PROC_AFT_ERROR=STOP is specified, the job
    step stops on encountering an error that is specific to the area
    in process. If PROC_AFT_ERROR=NEXTAREA is specified, the job
    step continues to process the remaining areas after encoutering
    an error that is specific to the area in process.
    .ANALYZE control statement
    .EXTRACT control statement
    .DMACPRT control statement

    Note: ODM continued to process the remaining areas even though
    an error that is specific to the area in process was detected.
    After this enhancement, the job step stops on encountering the
    error because the default value of PROC_AFT_ERROR is STOP. If
    you need ODM to work as before, PROC_AFT_ERROR=NEXTAREA should
    be specified.

    3. To use IMS High Performance Image Copy to generate image
    copy during the OPC processing, specify IC=(YES,ICEDD) in
    ANALYZE control statement. For multiple areas processing,
    OPC only allows getnerating image copy using IMS High
    Performance Image Copy.

    4. OPC, ODE, ODM and OER generate a new Process Summary Report
    that summarizes the processing result of each area. To store
    the new report in the IMS Tools KB repository, see 1.1.7 Support
    for IMS Tools KB, 1. Register IMS HPFPU with IMS Tools KB.

    Here is an example JCL for running OPC for multiple areas and
    generating image copy using IMS HP Image Copy.
    //ANALYZE EXEC FPUTIL,DBD=DEDBJN23,IMSID=IMS1
