Error description

  • The DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS incorrectly reports a
    change in a constraint:
    Compare table source(<table>) and target(<table>)
      (A)Drop constraint : <constraint-name>
      (A)Add constraint : <constraint-name>
      Tables have identical column lists
      Table will be altered
when the input DDL contains ALTER TABLE <table> ADD CONSTRAINT
    <constraint-name> statements.

Local fix

  • Create the input DDL with the contraint defined in the CREATE
TABLE syntax rather than using ALTER TABLE ADD CONTRAINT syntax.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/OS *
    * who use table check constraints. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The difference between the source and *
    * target check constraint was that one *
    * word was in lower case. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
The change in case was considered a change in the constraint and
ALTER drops and adds the constraint.

Problem conclusion

  • Object Compare is changed to disregard the case of any word of
the check constraint that is not a quoted string.
