Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of DB2 for z/OS who collect * * SYSIBM.SYSCOLSTATS statistics for their * * partitioned tablespaces. Those who have * * PK62804 (UK38708 on V8; UK38709 on V9) * * applied are more susceptible to the * * problem. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND04E RC00E20016 in * * DSNSLD1.DSNSVSTK+05B8 or similar * * storage-related abends may occur on * * bind or prepare of queries on a * * partitioned tablespace where * * SYSCOLSTATS have been gathered. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** ABEND04E RC00E20016 in DSNSLD1 .DSNSVSTK+05B8 or various storage-related abends may occur when binding or preparing a query on a partitioned tablespace which has SYSCOLSTATS collected on it, if the query is part of a long-running transaction. Storage creep can occur for these types of queries in long-running transactions, but the abend does not occur until an out-of-storage condition is encountered. The storage creep can only occur when parallelism is used for such queries, before PK62804 is applied. After PK62804 is applied, the storage creep could also occur for non-parallelism cases. Additional Keywords: SQLSTORAGE SQLCPUP
Problem conclusion
Code is changed to free the storage properly in both the parallelism and non-parallelism cases for queries on partitioned tablespaces where SYSCOLSTATS are collected.
