APAR status

Error description

  • If the CEX journal manager attempts to submit an archive job to
    JES via the internal reader while JES is not available, the
    internal reader process will hang and prevent CEX from
    journaling event records until JES has been restarted.  This is
    likely to result in the IMS Connect region entering a wait state
    because all of the event recording buffers are full.

    This APAR is correcting the following problems:
    1. If the CEX journal manager attempts to submit an archive
    job to JES via the internal reader while JES is not
    available, the internal reader process will hang and
    prevent CEX from journaling event records until JES has
    been restarted. This is likely to result in the IMS
    Connect region entering a wait state because all of the
    event recording buffers are full.
    2. The VIEWHWS SUMMARY command has changed in IMS V11 to
    include the SHOW(SUMMARY) option. This APAR provides
    support for this new option when the VIEWHWS SUMMARY
    request is issued from the CEX Console.
    

Problem conclusion

  • 1.This APAR changes the CEX component to support the
    changes made to the CEX journal manager to allow for
    asynchronous submission of the archive job via the JES
    internal reader.
    2.Processing of the VIEWHWS SUMMARY for IMS Connect V11
    is changed to QUERY MEMBER TYPE(IMSCON) SHOW(SUMMARY)
    for this request.
