Error description

  • This APAR is forward fit of PK75608.
When databases have problems that include the relation between
the number of index pointers and index source segments, HD
Pointer Checking (HDPC) attempts to generate an error message,
but HDPC accesses to an invalid storage location and this causes
the ABENDS0C4 depending on the condition of the storage.
This ABEND happends in the HD Pointer Checker HASH checking.

This APAR is forward fit from Version 2 Release 2 APAR PK75608.

HD Pointer Checker may get ABEND0C4 when all of the conditions
    below are satisfied:
      1. Secondary index database is processed with HASH check
         option.
      2. A pointer error or an index key errors is detected by HD
         Pointer Checker.

In order to fill a database name or a segment name in error
into an error message, HD Pointer Checker refers to an incorrect
    storage area and causes ABEND0C4

This error ABEND can occur when HASH Checking runs in
HDPC stand-alone (FABPMAIN) job, HP Image Copy, IMS Parallel
Reorganization (IPR), and Database Recovery Facility (DRF) job.

Problem conclusion

  • HD Pointer Checker has been changed to obtain the database name
and the segment name from a correct area. The following module
    has been modified:
       FABPHEVL
