Error description

  • In DB2 Object Compare Tool, when differences exist between
    source and target VIEW text, the underlining that is reported to
    underline the first difference actually appears under text that
    is an exact match.
    .
    Later text, which differs only because the source is upper case
    and the target is lower case text, is not underlined, making it
    difficult to determine why the VIEW text is reported as changed.
    .
    For example, DISTINCT vs. distinct in the following report:
    .
    ERROR DESCRIPTION:
    <==
        (D)View text has changed. Compared view text follows.
           First difference underlined
      First difference : Source token : PS_ECBUSDOCHDR.ECBUSDOCID
                         Target token : PS_ECBUSDOCHDR.ECBUSDOCID
      View from source (formatted with masks applied) :
      CREATE VIEW PSU5.PS_ECBUSHDR_IN_VW(ECBUSDOCID, ECBUSDOCSTATUS)
      AS
      SELECT DISTINCT PSU5.PS_ECBUSDOCHDR.ECBUSDOCID, ECBUSDOCSTATUS
                           =========================
    ...
    View from target (formatted) :
      CREATE VIEW PSU5.PS_ECBUSHDR_IN_VW(ECBUSDOCID, ECBUSDOCSTATUS)
      AS
      SELECT distinct PSU5.PS_ECBUSDOCHDR.ECBUSDOCID, ECBUSDOCSTATUS
                           =========================

Local fix

  • n/a - identify true text difference by looking at all text lines
