The cause of this problem is that work area which stores the length of HPIC control block is small. - HPIC Image Copy function terminates with ABEND S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 ) at FABJCP40 CSECT FABJCP40 + X'296' when the number of unprocessed DBDSs divided by 20 is 19. HPIC obtains buffer storage in which HPIC keeps up to 20 messages of the DFSPRINT DD. When that buffer storage becomes full, HPIC writes the kept 20 messages in the DFSPRINT DD and the buffer storage is initialized to keep next messages. But HPIC mishandles the counter to check that the buffer is full, so HPIC tries to write 21th message and reference the storage that is not accessible and terminates with abend. This APAR fixes the above problem and HPIC Image Copy function terminates with RC=16 and the message FABJ0192E ( MSGFABJ0192E ) on the conditions above. And also, this APAR provides the following enhancement under IMS Database Recovery Facility (DRF) Version 3 Release 1. - The maximum number of processed DBDS in HPIC Image Copy function is changed to 4095 from 999.
Problem conclusion
FABJDIB and FABJMAS1 have been modified to extend the area that length of data space is stored. FABJINT3 has been modified to change the maximum number of image copy data sets dynamically allocated from 999 to 4095. FABJTERM has been modified to write the kept messages in the DFSPRINT DD and initialize the buffer storage when the number of the kept messages reached the maximum. FABJSAS2 has been reassembled. ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS Version 4 Release 1 User's Guide SC18-9409-02 ( SC18940902 ) should be changed as follows: 12.0 Reference: Return codes, abend codes, and messages 12.3 Messages 12.3.168 FABJ3915E Explanation: An attempt to assign a unique ddname for the image copy data set requested by the ICOUT=* failed. The cause of this error might be due to the number of image copy data sets exceeding | the maximum value of 4095. System Action: | IMS HP Image Copy issues a user error abend code of 3915. Programmer Response: Separate the job steps into two so that the number of the image copy data sets is less than the maximum. Rerun the job. If the problem recurs, contact IBM Software Support.
