PK82834: Preprocessor should provide warning message if fieldLen is insuf ficient

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In this PMR the customer had a text form in which there is field
  
  declared as num(9) with fieldLen=6. According to our doc this is
   not
  permitted. The form was shown with incorrect alignments. When th
  e
  customer realized this, he wanted  to close the PMR as user erro
  r.
  
  
  However he would like to see a validation error or warning in th
  is case.
  
  The field is defined as:
   x num(9){position =[4, 5
                 ], fieldLen = 6, color = defaultColor, highlight
  = noHighlight, intensity = normalIntensity, protect = noProtect,
   sign = none, align = right, fillCharacter = nullFill};
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• Previously there was no warning that the contents of the
  field may not fit into the specified fieldLen.
  

Problem conclusion

• I have added a warning message that will help customers to
  recognize this situation.
