Error description

  • An IMS PA job goes into a loop, because an ancillary
transaction queue keeps growing until IMSPA exhausts virtual
storage allocated for internal queues. These transactions are
waiting for x'07' (or x'56FA') records to provide accounting
information, and may not in fact complete in the scope of the
input log files. If storage is allocated for a queue not subject
to internal high-water mark processing, an ABEND878 will occur.
The loop occurs in IPI4QMGR near x'382'.

    Additional Symptom: ABEND0C4 ABENDS0C4 IPI4PRA1 x'a92'

    ****************************************************************
An IMS PA job goes into a loop, because an ancillary
transaction queue keeps growing until IMSPA exhausts
virtual storage allocated for internal queues. These
transactions are waiting for X'07' (or x'56FA') records
to provide accounting information, and may not in fact
complete in the scope of the input log files. If storage
is allocated for a queue not subject to internal
high-water mark processing, an ABEND878 will occur.

Problem conclusion

  • Flush transaction entries from the ancillary queue when
queue exceeds 32K entries. These transactions may then
be passed to record processors at a completion level which
does not include accounting information from x'07' log
records. Add extra code to validate storage chains to
    identify potential 'orphan' queue entries.
