  • The DB2 Administration Tool for z/OS ALC command created out of
    sequence DDL such that an ALTER INDEX occurred before the CREATE
     TABLE / CREATE INDEX DDL resulting in:

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2 Administration Tool who use     *
    *                 the ALC and its Alter-Related function.      *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A table change using ALC was being made *
    *                      which  resulted in  the  change  action *
    *                      being "DROP-SC" Drop with kip Convert). *
    *                      Additionally,  a column was added to an *
    *                      index using  the Alter-related function *
    *                      of ALC.                                 *
    *                                                              *
    *                      When  the table is dropped,  the new    *
    *                      CREATE  INDEX  statement  should  be    *
    *                      used. This statement was being built    *
    *                      and was  included in the job, but an    *
    *                      ALTER  INDEX  incorrectly  was being    *
    *                      built as  well and came ahead of the    *
    *                      CREATE TABLE statement.                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    SQLCODE204 may occur when adding a column to an existing index
    while using ALC and the Alter-related function.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is fixed so that the CREATE INDEX statement is used.
    The ALTER INDEX statement will not be used.
