Error description

  • This problem happens when sending non-vsam
dataset resides on the same volume as a user catalog which
alias is the same name as the non-vsam dataset.
    .
The server log shows messages like below.
( case#1 - sending/receiving dataset name is the same as the
        ucat alias)
DVG087I FILE ORGANIZATION SPECIFIED IN REQUEST AND RETRIEVED
FROM SYSTEM SERVICES ARE DIFFERENT; DATA
DVG087I SET NAME = KON.UCAT ; FILE ORGANIZATION SPECIFIED IN
REQUEST= PS ; LABEL TYPE = VSAM; FILE
DVG087I ORGANIZATION RETRIEVED FROM SYSTEM SERVICES = ?@04
      DVG020I --------
DVG003I FILE TRANSFER ENDED FOR REQUEST NUMBER 5 ON 09/01/28
            AT 17:56:55; RC = 16 ; RSN = 384
    .
( case#2 - receiving dataset name is the same as the ucat
         alias)
DVG087I FILE ORGANIZATION SPECIFIED IN REQUEST AND RETRIEVED
FROM SYSTEM SERVICES ARE DIFFERENT; DATA

REQUEST = PS ; LABEL TYPE = ; FILE ORGANIZATION
DVG087I RETRIEVED FROM SYSTEM SERVICES = VSAM
      DVG020I --------
DVG003I FILE TRANSFER ENDED FOR REQUEST NUMBER 3 ON 09/01/28
        AT 17:49:54; RC = 16 ; RSN = 392
    .
This error was found after applying the ptf for apar PK78047
Through slip traces found it went wrong after DYNALLOC issued by
DVGMSDNT. As the SVC99 request parameter did not include the
RVOLSER, the user catalog was allocated with the DD name
DVGFI01. This problem mey be solved if DNVOLINS is turned ON in
    the DVGMSDNT.

Local fix

  • A zap like:

    NAME DVGSVFTP DVGMSDNT
VER 06DC 947F8651 <-This is where DNVOLINS is initialized off
REP 06DC 96808651 <- changed it to force turn ON

this was tested in customer environment
