PK80076: ERROR EDC5024I AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO CLOSE A FILE THAT HAD BEEN OPENED BY ANOTHER THREAD, WHILE TRANSFERRING QSAM FILES TO Z/OS

Error description

• Error "EDC5024I, an attempt was made to close a file that has
  been opened by another thread" was issued while transferring
  QSAM files to a z/OS system.
  The error: "EDC5024I, an attempt was made to close a file that
  had been opened by another thread"  occurs because the
  destination data set has more than 65535 tracks. FTE currently
  opens and closes a data set on one thread but performs read
  and write operations on a different thread.  This only works for
  data sets with less than  65535 tracks on a single volume.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• SUMMARY:
  Attempts to transfer a file to a multi-volume Z/OS data set
  failed with the following error message, 'EDC50241, an
  attempt was made to close a file that had been opened by another
  thread'
  
  USERS AFFECTED:
  The problem only affected Z/OS systems where either the
  destination data set already existed and was multi-volumed or a
  File Transfer Edition created a data set and the Z/OS operating
  system had allocated multiple volumes for it.
  
  PLATFORMS AFFECTED:
  Z/OS only
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem is resolved such that File Transfer Edition now
  fully supports multi-volumed data sets. In addition the
  restriction that only data sets with up to 65535 tracks are
  supported has now been lifted.
