Error description
If the DB2 z/OS codepage=939 (DBCS) and the GDDM CCSID is set to SBCS 1027 (since GDDM does not support DBCS code pages) the warning message DSQ10344 is displayed indicating a mismatch of CCSIDs.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All QMF for TSO/CICS V8.1 and V9.1 users * * running in a DBCS DB2 for z/OS database who * * are unable to eliminate the DSQ10344 * * (MSGDSQ10344) message. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users running in DB2 z/OS databases * * defined with DBCS codepages such as * * Japanese or Korean may be unable to * * eliminate the DSQ10344 'The GDDM CCSID * * xxx does not match the CCSID of xxxx * * at database dddd.' This message is * * written to the DSQDEBUG dd name and * * does not stop QMF from executing but * * can be annoying to users. SBCS users * * can easily eliminate this message by * * specifying the correct GDDM APPCPG * * parm. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Upon initialization of QMF, a comparison check is performed between the DB2 for z/OS CURRENT APPLICATION ENCODING special register and the GDDM APPCPG parameter. If these two values do not match, the DSQ10344 message is issued. The DB2 special register CURRENT APPLICATION ENCODING SCHEME returns the EBCDIC mixed codepage value for DBCS codepages. GDDM does not support non-SBCS codepages so there will never be a match for the GDDM APPCPG value and the CURRENT APPLICATION ENCODING SCHEME special register. It makes QMF users in DBCS databases unable to eliminate the DSQ10344 message.
Problem conclusion
This APAR will change DSQIDOPT to make an additional check prior to issuing the DSQ10344 message. The comparisons will now be in this order: Compare the GDDM APPCPG value to the DB2 z/OS special register CURRENT APPLICATION ENCODING SCHEME. If the the values are not the same, then QMF will compare the GDDM APPCPG value to the DB2 z/OS DSNHDECP value DECPSID. If both the first and second check fail, then QMF will issue the DSQ10344 error message.
