PK79068: QMF V81 PROCEDURE NOT HALTED WHEN ERROR IS ENCOUNTERED QMF V81/V91 ERROR MESSAGE NOT DISPLAYED AFTER EXPORT ABEND

APAR status

Error description

• When a QMF PROC includes an EXPORT TABLE command that
  produces an error, such as a D37 or B37 abend on the EXPORT
  data set, the PROC continues to run, and the abend is not
  written to the screen.  The truncated data set results in
  a loss of data.
  Also, if the EXPORT data set abends during CLOSE
  processing, no message is displayed.

  *                 All QMF for TSO/CICS V810 and V910           *
  *                 users who EXPORT data or tables to           *
  *                 pre-allocated data sets.                     *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a QMF PROC contains an EXPORT TABLE  *
  *                      command that fails, possibly because    *
  *                      of a D37 abend on the EXPORT data set,  *
  *                      the PROC should halt and the error      *
  *                      should be displayed on the screen.      *
  *                      Instead the PROC continues executing,   *
  *                      seeming to end successfully.  The only  *
  *                      indication of the abend is in the       *
  *                      MVS SYSLOG or a QMF DSQDEBUG trace data *
  *                      set.                                    *
  *                      In another scenario, the PROC is halted *
  *                      but no error message is displayed.      *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  The field containing the error return code and reason code
  from the failed EXPORT command was being reused before QMF
  checked the field to determine whether the PROC should be
  halted.
  Also, error messages for errors encounted during file closure
  were not being displayed or written to the DSQDEBUG data set.
  

Problem conclusion

• Code has been added to save the return and reason codes
  received because of the failed command.  Code has been added
  to display error messages after an error during file closure.
