APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • After DB Repair Facility changes data, many pointer errors are
    detected by HP Pointer Checker.
This is because DB Repair Facility set an end of file mark of
sequential data set incorrectly on the processing volume, even
if the volume is not the last volume.
HP Pointer Checker (HPPC) processes the OSAM database data set
before the file mark. HPPC cannot process data beyond the file
mark. Therefore, HPPC reports pointer errors.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When Database Repair Facility changes the data in a multiple
volume OSAM data set, it erroneously sets an end of file mark on
the processing volume, even if the volume is not the last
    volume.
This can cause loss of data stored beyond the file mark.

Problem conclusion

  • The module FABZOSIO has been modified not to set the incorrect
    end of file mark.
And, REXX Modules FABZMAIN and FABZOSMB have been modified to
display the recent APAR number PK78375.
