Error description

  • When a VSAM/ESDS data set is still open on an IMS online
    region, HSSR issues ABEND U4013 with the following messages:
     FABH0656I MEDIA MANAGER IS USED TO ACCESS DB: XXXXXXXX
     FABH0661E: RBA REQUEST BEYOND ORIGINAL DATASET LIMITS
                DDNAME=XXXXXXXX
     FABH0031E DDNAME=XXXXXXXX; DATA REQUEST OUTSIDE OF DATASET
               LIMITS
    This problem does not occur when 'HPIO=NO' is specified in the
    HSSROPT data set.

Local fix

  • Specify "HPIO=NO" in HSSROPT control statement data set.

    When the Media Manager is activated and VSAM ESDS data set is
    still opened on the IMS Online, HSSR issues ABEND U4013 with
    FABH0661E, and FABH0031E messages;
      FABH0656I MEDIA MANAGER IS USED TO ACCESS DB: XXXXXXXX
      FABH0661E: RBA REQUEST BEYOND ORIGINAL DATASET LIMITS DDNAME=
      FABH0031E DDNAME=xxx; DATA REQUEST OUTSIDE OF DATASET LIMITS

    Using the Media Manager for reading VSAM ESDS is one of new
    features of IMS High Performance Unload for z/OS, Version 1
    Release 2.
    When 'HPIO NO' is coded in the HSSROPT data set, the Media
    Manager is not used and this problem does not occur.

Problem conclusion

  • The FABH511 and FABH661 modules have been modified to obtain
    high-used RBA of ESDS from VSAM shared information (VSI),
    instead of Media Manager MMSHURBA.
