Error description
When migrated to DB2 v9 CM mode and running SPUFI, you will get intermittenly abend D37: Abend D37000 hex occurred processing command 'DSN' 61 *-* Address ISPEXEC "SELECT CMD(%DSNESC01 FUNC(SPUFI))" /* CALLING SPUFI
Local fix
The error will occur unless you specify YES in the CHANGE DEFAULTS field on DSNESP01 (main SPUFI panel) the first time you run SPUFI after migrating from V8 to V9.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of SPUFI in DB2 Version 9.1 for * * z/OS are affected by this change. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After migration to DB2 Version 9 * * conversion mode, SPUFI users can * * encounter abend ABENDD37 RC00000004 and * * SPUFI terminates with the following * * error message: * * * * Abend D37000 hex occurred processing * * command 'DSN '. * * * * IEC031I D37-04 * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The DB2 SPUFI facility provides a way to execute SQL statements dynamically in an ISPF environment. SPUFI requires you to specify the name of an output data set. If the data set does not already exist, SPUFI will allocate it for you. In DB2 Version 8 and earlier releases, SPUFI allocates new output data sets with a fixed space allocation of 6 primary tracks and 5 secondary tracks. In DB2 Version 9.1, new fields called PRIMARY SPACE and SECONDARY SPACE are added to the SPUFI defaults panel, DSNESP02, so that you can specify the data set space attributes explicitly. Currently, after DB2 is migrated to V9 conversion mode, users who bypass the SPUFI defaults panel, DSNESP02, can encounter abend ABENDD37 RC00000004 when SPUFI attempts to allocate a new output data set. The abend occurs because the ISPF variables for the PRIMARY SPACE and SECONDARY SPACE fields are not initialized when the defaults panel is bypassed. .
Problem conclusion
In response, the SPUFI ISPF panels are modified to detect and initialize uninitialized ISPF field variables, even if the defaults panel, DSNESP02, is bypassed by the user.
