Error description

  • Following ABEND0C4 in FPEVDB2I+48CE for instance, Omegamon
will try to recover the DB2I functionality -- and this can
lead to subsequent ABENDs. This APAR will provide first
relief by no longer trying to recover the DB2I functionality,
but instead shuts down the instance gracefully. This will
*NOT* solve the reported 0C4 in FPEVDB2I but will avoid the
several follow-on abends caused by the attempted recovery.
The long-term solution remains PK73913 which will be delivered
    later.

Local fix

  • Wait at least 10 seconds before killing a VTAM session that is
    hanging while waiting for data.

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
Abend S0C4 occurs in module FPEVDB2I of the PE Server subtask.
Consecutive abends in depending tasks occur. The processing of
the corresponding dumps causes peaks in CPU consumption.

    PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
When an ABEND (S0C4) occurs in module FPEVDB2I of a monitoring
PE Server subtask, the abend handler is invoked and writes the
symptoms (PSW, Registers) to the OMEGAMON job log without
requesting further dump output. Control is returned to module
FPEVDB2I to free resources. The monitoring PE Server subtask
stops and will be started automatically to continue monitoring
    of the DB2 Subsystem.
