APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • This APAR will add support to CEX for the IMS synchronous SPE
for IMS V10 and IMS Connect V10. The following IMS APARs
    add the function: PK70078, PK70330, and PK71135.
    KEYWORDS: IMSV10TGT/K
The APAR will also be used to address the problem where inactive
IMS Connect systems can cause poor performance when accessing
the Operations panel of the CEX ISPF Console.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR will add support to CEX for *
    * the IMS synchronous SPE for IMS V10 and *
    *                      IMS Connect V10.                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    1. IMS has provided an SPE that enables an IMS application
to perform a Sync Callout request from IMS.
    2. Status Monitor Ports/Systems views do not show any rows
and error message CEXG009 "Invalid action" is issued when
the enter key is pressed. The problem is caused by a
temporary C++ ostringstream string object being destroyed
       before it is referenced.
The dynamic area panel row appears to be empty,
but actually contains a row of low-values.
    3. The CEX service exit CEXSVC01 may fail to initialize and/or
abend 0C4 if it is active and CEX is not included
       in the ICON execution.
this is due to the change in the exit paramater list for V11.
    4. When a very large buffer is returned as a result of an ODBA
request, a torage overlay can result processing the event
record associated with the request. The storage overlay
often results in an abend 0C4 at the entry to module
       FUNTDB01.
    5. If an IMS Connect command is issued after the CLOSEHWS
command is issued, a recursive 0C4 abend loop may occur
in the SVC screening routine CESSSRTN. This is due to
the screening routine not properly dealing with deactivation
when IMS Connect is closing down.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • 1. Support has been added to CEX to detect and report on Sync
       Callout activity.
    2. A deep copy is taken of the C++ ostringstream string object
before referencing the internal buffer to fill the dynamic
       area panel row.
    3. Changed the CEX service exit to detect the version of IMS
Connect and use the proper exit offsets during initialization
    4. Changed module CEXTECL to limit the amount of the returned
buffer recorded so that the event record buffer is not
       overrun.
    5. Changed module CEXSSRTN to detect the end of the IMS
Connect activation and proper deactive SVC screening.
